Stupid decorations.

My current mantra at the moment is 'you won't remember the decorations, you'll remember the people'. This is what I use when I am perusing Ebay and start on the track of 'Oh, wouldn't that look nice? It's only an extra 50 dollars...' Slap! Stop it! See what I mean? You get so sucked up in the event, it's difficult to keep a hold of yourself.

Btw, the main reason I am whinging is because I have spent my decorations budget already and there are no decorations for the ceremony. Like isle deco, deco for the railing around the ceremony...I would love some things to hang off the chairs... slap slap! :)

I mean, who really fucking cares about what is hanging off the chairs?? Is anyone going to remember? I doubt it. Ok I think I am under control now.

A New Shoulder Flower

I got some new flowers to put on the dress the other day. They are very pretty and work in with my vintage-ness, but I hope to hell that once they are on the dress they look ok, cause they aren't an exact match with the rest of the dress.. we will see. I will talk to the dress maker soon. Here's a peek (sorry the pic isn't so great):

The plan is to have the pinky one sit in the middle with the little white ones around it..somehow. Geez I hope it works.

I Heart BelleNouvelleDesigns

I also heart Etsy all over. BelleNouvelleDesigns specialise in wedding accesories, and their stuff is just sooo glamorous. I wish we had an Australian Etsy. Or maybe we do and I just don't know about it.. Check out some of these pieces:

Ugh. Be still my beating heart.

Invites

Justin and I had quite a production line going on with making the invitation :) It was quite fun. Working in with the vintage pink theme, this is how they turned out:

Things I learnt:

  • It's not actually cheaper to make them yourself if you are not careful. It worked out about the same if I had of bought some plainer ones.

  • Hand made stuff is heap better than pre-bought though. Much more personal touch.

  • Always buy a bit more than you need. You can use the leftovers to make place cards, which I will be doing.

  • A helping hand is very, very useful.

Stayed on budget for this one, well done me.

Got the Shoes..

You wouldn't believe how many shoes there are in Brisbane. I am guessing a few million. And I am pretty sure that I looked at every single pair over one weekend. So many white, poofy shoes. None of them appealed at all! I was so frustrated, I really didn't want a 'normal' pair of wedding shoes, and I also didn't want to be walking around with blisters, hobbling all over the place on the day because I chose beautiful, but impractical shoes.

In the last desperate shopping hours of Sunday afternoon, they finally appeared to me. A pair of flat, pink, delicate shoes, not at all met for a wedding but I loved them. 'Do you have these in an 8 1/2, 9?' No I am sorry, we only have a size 7'. Crap! I went home very disappointed and couldn't stop thinking about them, knowing I wouldn't find anything close. So I started thinking, how can I get those shoes.. hey! They were Diana Ferrari's... outlet! Outlet outlet outlet! So I rung the Brisbane airport outlet and yes they had my size, brilliant! Zoomed out in the car and get them. Yes!

Then I realised when I got home, they needed a little bit of a personal touch to finish them off. So I glued a few pearls and a rose onto them and voila. Bella, amigo.

Here they are:

Fantastic! Another one bites the dust.

Colour Theme

Now that I have my dress, I have sat down and seriously thought about a theme and colours that will match it. I am a big advocate of femininity and classic styles, so I have decided to go for a vintage, pearls and lace theme. It's going to kick ass. I have scratched together some colour that I think will be going with.

Picture cherry blossoms, roses, pearls and all things vintage. Sweet...

I Bought It

I bought the dress. Woohoo! Its very nice. Needs a bit of alteration on the shoulder, since the flowers are a little worn, and it will need to be taken up a bit, but other than that it fits me perfectly! I even managed to get a petticoat thrown in with it, one less thing we will have to buy :) So, without further ado, here are some photos:

There's a little thrill about getting the dress that I can't describe. It's almost a turning point for the wedding, since it sets the whole theme. What kind of theme am I setting with this dress? I suppose its a spring, vintage, pearls and lace sorta thing. Or maybe that's just me (which is fine, cause it's supposed to be!).
